If you have been following this series on Taking Your Business Digital, you will know that this series has been inspired by the 30 Day Blogging Challenge created by Sarah Arrow of Sark Emedia. Write 30 Blog Posts in 30 days!
About a year ago I signed up for this challenge and didn’t even get started. There was always something more important for me to do. Truthfully I was terrified of the commitment. If I didn’t start I couldn’t drop out and fail.
This time I had a real incentive. I wanted to produce a guide to help those who are afraid of technology, to learn to take their businesses into the 21st century. I needed something that would force me to focus on a goal that was not too long, term as I tend to get bored and/or frustrated when I hit a problem.
How do you get people to subscribe to your newsletters or blog posts?
Unless you are lucky enough to write a post or post a video or picture of something that goes viral, you need to accept that it is process that takes time and consistent effort.
With the advent of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI) anyone who sends newsletters has to ensure that the recipients have agreed to receive them. You can't just SPAM people and hope that they will become loyal to you.
No matter what content you produce you need to keep your readers in mind. Human nature is all about "what is in it for me?"
