Have you ever done a course online? Did you pay for the course or was it a free course? More importantly, did you complete the course? If you didn't complete the course why did you give up?
There are thousands of courses that you can do online. From MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) which are free and attract thousands of people, to specialist one off courses, to courses created by universities to supplement lecture led classes.
Before online courses we had correspondence courses where you would sign up and a few days later received large parcels of books and assignments. Over the years I have signed up for my fair share of courses and attacked the material with great enthusiasm, only to opt out a few weeks or months later. I have finished a couple of courses too, done the exams and received my certificates.
How do you find the time to be on Social Media so much is a question I am frequently asked? When I reply that it is my job the next question is, “but what does sharing socially on Facebook and Twitter have to do with your job?”
